Drawing from our extensive experience designing climbing crampons, the Distance Spike features 14 spikes which have an optimized 8mm length, designed to provide excellent engagement on snow and ice, with improved stability on rock and hard surfaces. The spikes are made of stainless steel and are heat treated for superior strength, corrosion and wear resistance. The Access features a full elastomer harness for ultimate footwear adaptability and includes a heel webbing loop for easy on/off and heel identification.

Work but prepare to make on-trail repairs

"First use was a weekend glacier camp-out with camp set-up just 2-3 miles back on the moraine. On one foot, the chain tore out of the harness, then the chain broke apart in another spot. On the other foot, the chain broke apart. Super easy to use, great taction when assembled fully, but bummed to have them breaking apart in so many spots so quickly. Most was easily put back together with pliers but not confident in repairing where the chain completely tore out from the harness."

Just Bought a Second Pair / Worth the Money!

"Just bought my second pair. The first pair lasted many years through hard use on my Muck boots and never failed me. The rubber remains in excellent condition and no corrosion on any of the stainless parts even with constant exposure to salt. Only replaced due to the points on the spikes wearing down a bit due to use on concrete & asphalt. Still using old pair when I don't need super sharp points and they work great for general use. Also ordered a new pair for my wife and she is pleased with the traction too. I had tried cheaper versions in the past and would buy these again without hesitation; you get what you pay for."

"I just hiked 9 miles with this. It was very comfortable and worked perfectly. Easy to put on, and fit very tightly with the boots. I did notice quite some scratches on the chains after the hike. And not sure if it will last."
