Never again

"Last December I scored an early season lap on The Black Dike on Cannon Mountain in NH with my buddy. We decided to start mid-day to let the early birds climb it and get out of our way. Our plan worked well, although we knew we'd be finishing the climb, descending the 3 pitches, and hiking out in the dark. Everything went according to plan until my primary headlamp died. I wound up leading the top pitch with an ancient headlamp with a dental floss head band (from another company) that barely lit up the ice in front of me and kept sliding off to the side of my helmet because the rubber backer had fallen off years ago. The good news is that I survived. The better news is that as soon as I could I purchased my BD Astro 300-R to be my new back-up headlamp. I've used it a few times so far and it's a champ. And I'm confident it will be there when I need it for reals."

Nice. All you need, for day to day, around the house, etc

"i’m not going on any expeditions or even camping (though that is a possibility one day), so the headlamp is just for walking around the side of the house to put trash in trash cans at night; i need to have hands free, big trash cans and i put nightly trash in bigger trash bag in trash can, so need hands free. And headlamps are just useful for so many lighting needs, really the best solution, for ALL personal lighting needs. Hand held flashlights are kind of inferior. Anyway, this little headlamp is really bright, very easy, very dependable, recharging feature is a bonus, can easily recharge (haven’t needed to yet). So I’d definitely recommend."

Good light with some issues

"I have two issues with this lamp. First, the lamp can only be tilted by what, maybe around 30 degrees or so? So if I am sitting at a desk repairing something and need to shine a light on whatever it is I'm doing, or I'm sitting in a tent eating from a dish and want to shine a light on what I'm eating, I cannot. The lamp should be able to tilt more than 45 degrees in order to see whan you look down. Second, when I turn on the lamp and set the brightness to maybe around 25% or less, somewhere around the 3 minute mark the brightness turns down a notch or two. You see a small "jump" in the light and it gets dimmer. And yes, the lamp is fully charged. All three blue indicators on the side lights up, meaning it is charged 75-100%. This phenomena is somewhat irritating. When I set the brightness to a level, I need it to stay there not jump around. To reproduce this, go into a dark room, turn on the light and set the brightness level to around 25% or less. Now turn off the lamp and wait until the side blue lights turn off. (Also make sure the lamp is fully charged or have enough juice. ) Now turn on the lamp again and just wait around 3-5 minutes. You can use your phone to clock the time. At some point the lamp will jump and dim a little bit, which will be noticable. At 45 bucks, this is an expensive light and should not have issues like this. I purchased this at REI. I might return it or replace it with another one."

Great product and price

"Another great head lamp from Black Diamond. Easy to adjust dimming. I like that it flashes/pulses when it's all the way dim or bright so you know to release the button. Great for early morning runs."

Love this little headlamp!

"Honestly I haven’t met a black diamond headlamp I didn’t love. This is my third one I’ve bought. I wanted something lightweight and rechargeable for home projects and I really love this little guy. Super simple. Single button. Works so well. It’s super lightweight. I bought a couple more given the sale just to have around the house and cars."
