"The headlamp is bright, functional, and stays alive for a while. I've had it at max brightness for over an hour. However, the controls are strange. It will turn on to whatever color/level you left it on. So the "buttons" switch depending on your settings beforehand."

Red light is perfect for most tasks and especially handy when anyone walks with me so they aren’t blinded by my effervescence. White light is really only needed for the deep search and rescue. "I have a BD headlight that directly charges via Micro USB and I LOVE it. This one comes with Duracell batteries and you can purchase a lithium battery that can be charged but this is buried in the description. This was not evident while purchasing. Now I have another headlight that needs batteries unless i want to purchase the lithium battery that it should come with and have the option to use batteries."

"This is the worst headlamp that I have ever used. Red lights are essential for camping so that you don't blind other people in your party. The red light in this headlamp is useless. You can't see your own hand in front of your face on either setting (high or low). To be fair, the white light is amazing and it lights everything up like heaven. But without a good red light, this headlight is useless in my opinion."
