The new custom metal dogbone ice tool attachment provides secure attachment for technical ice tools and mountaineering axes while a front crampon pouch and a tuck-away rope strap secure gear to the outside. Finally, a drawcord skirt provides a second defense against spindrift and light precip.

Pro and Con

"After one use I have some pros and cons: Pros: The shape itself is nice. All the pockets are useful. I especially love the brain pockets and the side zipper access on the main compartment. The loops to open the main compartment are very easy to open and close. The load lifters are a necessity and the gear loops on the belt are incredibly useful. Cons: The whole reason why I bought this pack was for the new and improved ice axe attachment system. However upon using it for my first time, I found it very difficult to get the metal stopper into the ice axe. One improvement is to replace the metal stopper nylons stich with stretchy paracord so I can insert the metal stopper into my ice axe easier. Its especially hard to detach my axe with gloves on. Another think is I Immediately noticed 2 of the side strap buckles are easy to unclip out once tightened with enough Force. This could be a defect and I'm looking into replacing them. The loops on the harness for attaching radios and satellite gear are not as rugged as other competitors. I hope it holds up over time. I understand this pack is made for climbing and so there's less pockets on the outside, but it would be nice to have a lot more attachment loops and straps on the outside of the pack. Especially on the hip belt where I would like to attach additional backpack pocket accessories. I'm also really careful with storing my crampons, But the crampon pocket on the outside has small holes in it after first time use. The outside of the pack is not waterproof and the pack does not have a rain cover. It would be nice to have a waterproof bottom so I can set my pack down on wet ice and not have it soak through and onto my pants. Overall a decent pack and I'll continue to use it for my Rainier trek but there are some design flaws as with lots of packs on the market today."

"Great weight for the size - carries very well. Had to send back to have the buckles replaced after first trip as they did not hold adequately to secure the lid or the compression strap on top. Warranty repair was quite fast and appreciate that!"

I've used the pack with

"I've used the pack with loads of about 25#s and 50#s and found it comfortable either way (relatively - I don't think anything over 50#s is ever going to be that comfortable). My torso measures exactly 19" and I tried and returned the S/M before landing on the L/XL. I do feel like it's a bit big for me, but the S/M was way too small. Being a little in between sizes makes the fit imperfect, but I'll put up with it. For the price point I'm still very happy."

"Just took the pack out in its debut trip up to Nipigon Ontario to climb some ice. Pack was stellar. Padding is perfect on the hips, suspension felt great. Had plenty of storage for all my gear and then some. Tools stayed secure and crampons didn't leave a dent in the material. Very happy with this purchase."
