Just wanted a bike light
"This is sooooo complicated. Just get angry looking at their instructions, in picture form???? Tap/touch the side of it to go ultra bright? with some symbol showing that but it doesn't open like the charging port next to it, hard to find because you can swim in this for 30 minutes, so it needs a complicated charging port cover??????? Pretentious. Legally required to have bike lights, want rechargeable ones, don't want any of this nonsense. Gift from a friend, I'd obviously never buy this. Pissed me off enough to do a review, just trying to use it"

Top features, poor build quality
"I've been using BD headlamps for near twenty years now. They have only gotten better; lighter, brighter, more efficient. I was so psyched for this rechargeable and lightweight model. I have gone through a village's share of batteries before this moment. I have a habit of using dim mode or red mode to sustain battery life. So for me one full charge lasts weeks. Here is the rub. With new tech gains, BD has overlooked the actual build. Less than six months of use, the hinge no longer stays fixed in upright position. The headlamp body, though not heavy, flops downward for every time I tip my chin down. This totally sucks for all downhill activity. Like much of my beloved gear, my BD headlamp now sports a piece of climbing tape. Dear BD designers, please fix this analog glitch. Thanks."

Light and Bright
"Love the retargetable version. Very light and lasts a long time. The only ding is that the charging port is a USB-A instead of the standard USB-C on almost all power banks and phones. Great otherwise."

Cheap Design, malfunctioned out of box
"Bought this headlamp in New Zealand on a bikepacking trip when mine broke, and has failed to charge straight out of the box. Tried different cords, outlets, etc. , and nothing has worked. Reached out to BD for warranty and gave me a 30% coupon code to buy a new headlamp since I didn't have my original receipt. The quality of this headlamp feels very cheap for the price point. Hesitant to buy from BD again."

Great addition to the fleet!
"I teach a backcountry travel / skiing class. Seems I always have a student forget their headlamp. I picked this up as spare - just in case. I been using the STORM light for years - it's been my go-to morning run light for years. But I am quite impressed with this Spot. Not quite as bright as the STORM, but it has all the feature I need - rechargeable, long battery life, AND the all-important red light for reading in the tent! Good investment."

Good for camping
"Lasted two full nights in the cold and didnt need a single recharge."
