Reviews

Great headlamp, but could be just a little bit better. . .

"Living in Alaska, I do not use headlamps in the summer (no darkness)! But I just finished a guiding gig in the lower 48, so I have some preliminary conclusions. This is a truly great headlamp. I think it is intended more for trail running, rather than multiple uses that I put gear through. For that likely it is a solid 5-star. I gave it a reluctant mark off at 4-star for two personal reasons: The boost feature where you touch the side of the lamp to boost the light temporarily I find a little too sensitive and I am finding the I am always accidentally turning it on, which is annoying and used battery power unnecessarily. The second thing is that I wish the low power went even lower to conserve battery power. There are many times that I just need a little light. . . But that is all pretty minor, and just my take. I love the fit, stability, and the option of using the Lithium battery OR AAA batteries. I've also been caught out unexpectedly by darkness on a longer mountain bike ride that I was prepared for, and I like the rear flashing red lights as a backup for biking back to home base on the streets! All in all, this is a great headlamp, and will be my go-to in the lower 48, international guiding gigs, or in Alaskan shoulder seasons, and I highly recommend it."

Fabulous headlamp

"This is a wonderful headlamp. I love that it has a back-of-head blinking light to warn motorists that I and my dog are on the roadside. My dog, Star, is a black and tan cocker spaniel and although she wears a reflective collar and i wear a reflective vest when we walk at night, we still need to see! The Sprinter 500 headlamp makes that possible. This is a repeat purchase because it works so well."

it doesn't work out of the box and couldn't get an exchange

"I have written in twice to do an exchange and been told that I have to place a warranty claim. I have to pay myself to ship the device back. I bought a light that does not work and did not work from the beginning. If I bought it anywhere else, they would have simply exchanged it."

Enjoying the light

"I traditionally hate having things on my head and avoided using headlamps for that reason. The Sprinter is remarkably light and comfortable. It provides tremendous light to the trails when I am out running. The battery has been more than sufficient for my normal runs, and I am looking forward to testing it on my next ultra."

Diffuse light inferior to previous versions

"Very disappointed in BD’s choice to diffuse the light in this Sprinter headlamp, especially since I’m a long time user of the previous versions for running. Those previous versions (which I continue to use with worn out elastic) are superior to this product - the previous versions have a directed beam that provides the correct amount of light in the right place, especially for trail running. This product has one job to do for runners, which is to provide enough light in the direction where you look, and this new version totally fails in that regard. It’s done for , say, a camping light, and maybe as a light “to be seen” when running but fundamentally useless as a running headlight “to be able to see. ” I never write reviews, but was so disappointed given that I purchased two of these, one for me and one for my wife that I felt compelled to alert others and encourage BD to revert to the previous lens optic design."

Love it. Best Sprinter yet!

"This is the third Sprinter I’ve owned. I’ve loved them all, and each one is a little better than the earlier generation. The balance of having battery weight in the back is great. And I take comfort knowing that I’m visible from the back as well as the front. The Dual Fuel capability means you can legitimately use this on long events with a pre-dawn start and possibly finishing after dark. And multi-day hikes are worry free because you can carry a backup set of disposable batteries."

Steve L. (5/5)

Go farther

"The battery life on this is fantastic and the ability to interchange with AAA batteries gives me the confidence that I will only need one headlamp through my whole 100 mile race. The top head strap eliminates some of the bobbing and slipping that other models have had and leaves me with a much smoother trail run. I like the light in the back for other people or cars on the road and the recharging function means I always leave home with a fully ready to go light."

Sophie R. (5/5)

A new comer to the headlamp community

"I enjoy my headlamp. It illuminates my path. It tells me where I can go, what to expect, and who is where! It is awesome, and I wish I bought one earlier."

Riley M. (4/5)

Not a fan

"I bought this headlamp to replace my biolight since the elastic band lost its stretch. Three reasons I don’t like this light. 1. It only has a “flood light” mode, no focused beam. 2 The flashing red light in the back keeps turning on by itself and running the battery down. 3. It still uses the old micro USB charger when all my other devices use USB-C"

Charley (2/5)

Packs a mighty punch

"I wear the sprint because it’s a simple and lightweight headlight option which I often use as a supplement to a secondary light source. Well designed light, which I rarely need to wear with the overhead strap. Tasteful upgrades from the previous gen Sprinter I own, it presents great value for money."
