DescriptionBuilt to move fast, both uphill and downhill, the Helio 180 is a versatile, all-mountain touring binding that is ultralight, yet powerful. Engineered with premium aluminum alloys, stainless steel and POM, the Helio 180’s weigh in at just 180 grams each, while maintaining the security and power transfer needed for big lines. The binding’s Easy Entry System utilizes a new toe geometry that optimizes the boot step-in, making it extremely reactive and powerful, while the 180’s Monolink Technology 1.0 consists of a spring-less toe arm on one side, which creates a higher clamping stiffness, while keeping the overall weight at a minimum.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Swellcoming from Great binding! Mounted this to a Helio Carbon 105 and am very happy with it for a daily tourer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Rube from Bomber!!! Except... Recently suffered through multiple hours of frozen side hilling and half of which was with ski crampons! Toe pins never failed! As a 6’4” 240 lb dude these binding are extremely strong. They hold an edge and I have never popped out even with being mounted to a pair of 117 mm underfoot boats. Except- As mention in other posts the rotation is extremely awkward. Bind freezes and you can’t spin. This needs some serious work. Think early dynamite that you rotate with your pole. Also riser height. The flip mechanism could do with a much bigger bend to get you some meaningful height!

Rated 3 out of 5 by andyonskis from very light/ heel piece is awkward the binding is light which is great. The riser system is really hard to deal with in the field. Turning it is very hard ...you need to really read on it to turn it. Going to your lifter from the neutral position requires you to turn the heel piece which is a total pain....especially if you try to do this on angled terrain. think hard on this before buying.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mars from Light and simple I've been using these on my Helio 95s this winter and I really like this binding. It's sturdy enough for anything I've asked of it. I use a 8 release which functioned perfectly the only time that I've needed a ski to release, so my left knee is thankful! Other than that, no premature releases. I like that there is are 3 levels of heel lift, my only warning to anyone is that to go from "flat" to and lift, you have to kneel down and rotate the heel piece. Once the heel piece is rotated you have two heel lift settings. Because of the need to kneel, make sure that you predict your lift requirements before you are on a steep wind scoured or icy slope. Also, the heel piece seems to be prone to a bit of ice buildup and can be a bit hard to rotate at times. All in all, I love this binding and am impressed with how functional it is for it's weight. It climbs well, skis well, and I'm not sure what else you need!

Rated 3 out of 5 by LiveFreeNSki from Light but stiff heel rotation Pro: Light Cons: The mechanism for turning the heel is super! stiff. I’m hoping it gets easier but it is a pain to turn even with a gloved hand. I wish it also had more rise. I’ll probably climb with the riser flipped over the pins, but this is a pain on the less steeps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Timmy from Elegant design I have been skiing on these bindings most of the winter and I can honestly say they are the best tech bindings I have ever owned. They are milled to perfection and have zero plastic on them. In the past after only skiing half a season other brands reward tower would develop a lot of sloppy play, but the Helios after a lot of skiing are still tight. I also love the minimalist design its all you need and did I mention how light they are!

Rated 2 out of 5 by jaudall from good bindings until they weren't I've loved the helio 180 binding. I've had them on helio 95 skis. It clips in and out smoothly. Until recently, it was a five star binding for me. I have skied them quite a few days this year (60+) and I had a few good drops in British Columbia. Now the articulating pins on both sides of the toe piece now works its way loose as I skin. It makes an annoying click when engaged and skinning. I have to be sure to check them, and often bang them into place before skiing down. I'm waiting to hear from BD warranty. Maybe I'll revise the stars based on my interaction with the warranty. I'll still use them while I have them, but I'll be checking them during the transitions.
