When did you first start climbing?

1994

What do you most enjoy about your sport?

The community.

How do you define success?

Living your life based on what you want to do, not what you think you should be.

What are you most proud of, either in life, your sport or both?

I’ve never had a resume.

Who are your heroes?

Julia Child

What inspires you?

People that are stoked to get out there, right here right now, no excuses.

What are your hobbies outside of your sport?

Cooking and cleaning.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Crag beers.

What are your hidden talents?

I have a mean right hook.

Tell us about your most favorite place in the world:

I like to travel and climb in sketchy places: Algeria, Yemen, Sudan, Mali. Places where I feel safer on the rock than I do in the cities. I also like to experience people in these countries as a climber, rather than as a tourist behind the window of a tour bus.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A nurse, like my mother.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be, and why?

Less road rage and eat more fruit. I guess that’s two.

Tell us about a time in your life when you have been scared:

I’m only ever truly scared when I think my husband is in danger. It’s irrational, but I can’t control it.

Describe your perfect day:

Waking up in the van without a hangover, cooking bacon and eggs in cast iron, start climbing at noon, making dinner for friends, Bali shag, sleep for ten hours.

How would your friends describe you?

Funny, flaky, generous and genuine.
