Rated 5 out of 5 by Kc87 from Great replacement for my lost carbon cork As a recent convert to sticks, I loved the Alpine carbon cork poles when I bought them last year. They saved my knees on a couple 14ers in Colorado last year, and saved me at least one tumble on some talus descending Mt Blanca. That's why I shed a small tear when I realized, one hundred miles into a drive, that I had left them on my roof driving away from a trail in the Catskills. RIP Alpine carbon cork, hello Trail Ergo Cork. Still love the cork, I'm enjoying the slight angle adjustment (I change my grip less), and I don't much notice the difference from not being carbon. Next up, 46 high peaks of NY

Rated 2 out of 5 by Trail addict from Update not so great “Updated” sticks do not compare to the old. Less ergonomic handles, less padding, feels like the aluminum is heavier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Happy from Solid gear I bought these a year ago and have about 1800 trail miles on them now. They are aluminum, so they will bend and not snap off like the carbon fiber poles. The cork handles are excellent for long sweaty trips. I like the fact that the top of the grip is smooth. Often, I palm the top of the pole as a way to give my hands a break. Another top grand has textured plastic on top. That can easily increase skin friction and breakdown. My husband lost one of his poles while crossing a stream. He purchased Leki poles as a local shop. He hated them. He just replaced those with a set of these. I did manage to really bend one of these while hiking, but that bend saved me from a serious fall, and I was able to bend the pole back into shape. I’m online today to buy the replacement section of my pole that bent. Hope to put some really big miles on these poles this year.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Joe Hiker from The upgrade is not so great Bought a pair for my my girlfriend a couple of years ago and she surprised me with a pair for Christmas this year. I was disappointed to find these have been "updated" with a smaller and less ergonomic handle, flimsier and skinnier foam extension and they feel heavier even with smaller and cheaper handles. I don't think they are the same quality aluminum. Sadly I will be looking for another pair, as these are not what they once were.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ron16 from Good Stuff I took these on a 33 mile AT trip this past weekend. It rained 2 out of the 3 days. These poles held up great. They were light weight, did not break down, and the cork handles felt awesome throughout. I would definitely recommend these poles to anyone looking for some nice, light, poles. I did change the baskets, because the baskets that come stock are tiny, they are laughable. Luckily the bigger baskets are only a couple of bucks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Gary from strong and light I am training for a mountain goat hunt high in the mountains of Kodiak Island Alaska this fall. I am pounding up the mountains here in Pa now for training. So far the poles seem great. Light, easy to adjust and strong. I will take them on this trip later this fall. So far no problems with them. Great for all the hard, steep, up and down that I do. I have over 1500 miles hiking around the world. Liking these poles.
