DescriptionCombining maximum security and ease of use like never before, the Black Diamond Magnetron Rocklock uses the power of magnets to reinvent the auto-locking carabiner. Magnetron Technology uses two magnetic arms in the gate and a steel insert in the carabiner's keylock nose to create an ultra-secure, self-clearing and redundant locking mechanism that can easily be used with either hand. Our classic RockLock shape is ideal for belaying, making anchors or rappelling, and its keylock nose prevents snagging on slings and ropes.
- I nnovative gate design uses two magnetic arms in the gate and a steel insert in the nose for super secure, interference-free closure
- Keylock nose prevents snagging
- Easy operation with either hand
- Square hinge end holds belay loop securely in place
- Slightly curved spine maximizes gate opening
- Type H or HMS connector. For dynamic belaying using a Munter Hitch or belay device.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Bpark from Locking mechanism jams I picked up two of these at a gym shop a bit ago and one of them works perfectly fine, I'm very happy with it. The other however started jamming up randomly after a few weeks. They don't get shock loaded because I mainly used them on my PAS and occasionally a belay. But just this one biner needs a sideways force after releasing the magnetic locks to open, which is very difficult to do with one hand. The efficiency for safety is awesome, nothing like it. I just wish it was more reliable than what I've experienced.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Kirah from Best auto-locker I've ever used This auto-locker remains easy to use one-handed and while wearing thick gloves. I find it to be preferable to screwgate lockers and far easier to use than triple-action autolockers that involve twisting the collar on the gate. My only criticism is that it has frozen up in sub-zero temps. Use it while climbing comfortably in t-shirts and shorts and you'll never encounter a problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mick from It just works I've had this for about 5 years now and continue to be happy with it. It operates easily with one hand (even with gloves) and it has been reliable and solid. I mostly climb rock, though have had good experiences when ice-climbing, as well. In my (somewhat limitted) ice experience, it's always performed reliably with no problems. Definately recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Captain from Nigh-Perfect. One of my favorite pieces of climbing gear, absolutely awesome. An innovative, and yet really simple design. Takes one hand to operate (as in one hand on paper AND in practice, not "yeah it can be operated with one hand but will cause you hard-ache and confusion and will irritate you that it even suggested it"). Solid 24 kn loading limit, good shape, good mechanism. I have medium-large sized hands and my fingertips extend about 1/2" beyond the locking mechanism when I hold it, and it's really comfortable. Might be an issue for people with larger hands, but I'm going to take a wager and say that it will likely fit most hand sizes comfortably. I've taken it outside a good amount and so far it holds up well. The only time it hasn't shut after releasing the gate is when I've accidentally pushed in one of the magnetic pins before I let it go, acting as an obstacle that hit the nose and didn't allow it to go smoothly in, but that was user error, and it happens MAYBE 1 out of 500 times for me. It's also never been unlocked unintentionally, which is awesome to see.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sleaves from Easy to use in difficult situations I have many of these and have been using them for years on the river. When time is a concern these little guys are your best friend! No more wondering if you remembered to lock them just pinch and clip and the anchor is set and the rescue is on. I don’t use these for rock climbing however I bet the best use would be for belaying.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Lukas from Solid Carabiner - Except in Snow I used a couple Magnetron Carabiners throughout the summer for multi-pitch trad/sport routes and basic mountaineering. Found them light and easy to manipulate. Winter has come to the mountains, and I find that these lock up when they freeze or pack with snow. To free them up takes a lot of effort; a whole lot more than with a traditional auto-lock - especially with gloves on. Just a Heads Up. Keep it from Freezing and it's a great carabiner. Kudos to Black Diamond for the inovative approach.
