Rated 5 out of 5 by Sabrina from Exactly what I was looking for! I was looking for a replacement to the gym bag i was carrying for all day hikes and this was perfect! Enough to carry a bear spray and insect repellant (in the trekking pole compartments on the side), first aid kit, a nalgene bottle, hydration bag, extra clothes and snacks (in the main pouch) and there's definitely room for a bit more! The minimal extra loops on the bag was also great for additional items and the little internal sleeve in the main compartment was all I needed in the way of organisation. Overall, perfect for a day of hiking/climbing! The straps are not padded but you don't need very much anyways for the weight that you're probably carrying with this bag. I was specifically looking for unpadded straps as this allows the bag to fold down to basically nothing! A huge plus in my books! I'm 5'3 and carrying the bag (with a cap attached) in the picture.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Dann from Perfect simplicity This pack is beautiful, simple, light, functional. I absolutely love it and have used the small loops on the side to add straps to carry an ice axe and rock climbing shoes.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Fineline179 from You get what you pay for. I needed a light pack for endurance training, trail running, and fast day hikes. Also I am poor rn so I needed something cheap. I picked this up for 30 bucks, and TL;DR for 30 bucks it is worth it. It's super light, and has held up to three and a half months of three times a week use without any sort of appreciable wear. The trekking pole pockets on the sides function great for their intended purpose. Although there isn't a sleeve for hydration bladder built-in, you can easily throw a 2 liter bladder inside, zip tie the top to the little ribbon on the inside, and run the drinking tube through some of the loops on the top and down through a zip tie on one of the strap loops. Works great. The pack rides really close to the body, even while running with a full 2 liter water bladder in it. My only annoyances with this pack are 1) the touted pull-closure mechanism that opens the bag is kind of annoying to use. A zipper would be faster. I get that the pull-closure saves weight and cost though, so the small annoyance is probably worth it for those reasons. 2) The clip mechanism that kind of EXTRA keeps the pack closed is incredibly annoying to use. On days when I'm not using a hydration bladder and carry a water bottle, I curse at the pack every time I have to undo the dang clip to open the pack. You don't have to use the clip, but if you don't the pack kind of flops around as you run and makes you look dumb. Now that I mention this I think I'm going to mod the clip to a standard plastic clicky clasp thing -- that should solve the problem. Hey Black Diamond you should do this on the next version of the pack, to reduce cursing. That's it. If you only got 30 bucks and this thing is on sale, pick it up. If you got a hundred bucks, maybe get an osprey talon 11 instead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Dbiker from High functioning minimalism Had this pack on my back every day for two weeks of bike touring in Japan to supplement a Brompton (folding bike) front bag. I was skeptical at first of even light load on my back while cycling, but this little pack handled it great. Was surprisingly comfortable when I packed it correctly. With no padding, you have to take a little care in loading it, of course.

Rated 5 out of 5 by jackalope415 from Spartan There is a word for it, and it is spartan. For a pack this light it is both remarkably durable and comfortable. Do note, there is not an ounce of padding in the shoulder straps, but they're gentle on the skin even if they look like seat-belt webbing. With the built-in slots for trekking poles and the wrap-over closure thingee the whole rig holds its shape and rides high above a harness. This is definitely not a vest style pack though it does snug in close to the back without a waist belt, and it doesn't have a bladder sleeve, but I've had no problem running a bite valve out the top. Anyhow, I didn't think I'd ever have something that rivaled my Bullet pack from 1997, but this might just have nudged that one to the back of the proverbial pack. Not so recovering luggage fetishist.
